Planning a Quinceanera is a big journey—but you don’t have to do it alone. One of the most meaningful traditions in a Quince is inviting special people in your life to be your Padrinos and Madrinas. These are the family members and close friends who help support your celebration—financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Why Choose Padrinos?
Padrinos aren’t just helpers—they’re part of your story. Many are honored to be asked because it shows how much they mean to you. Plus, having padrinos can make the planning more manageable by sharing the costs of specific items.
When to Start Asking
We recommend choosing your padrinos about 11 months before your celebration. This gives everyone enough time to plan and prepare for their contribution.
What Can They Help With?
Traditionally, padrinos are assigned a specific item or responsibility. Some ideas include:
Your Tiara or Dress
The Cake
Invitations
Souvenirs or Party Favors
Photography/Videography
Bible, Rosary & Kneeling Pillow
Or even a donation to the overall event
Assigning items not only makes it easier to organize but also gives each padrino a clear role in your big day.
How to Ask with Love and Respect
When asking someone to be your padrino or madrina, make it special and sincere. Here’s an example message you can personalize:
“Because you are such an important part of my life, I was wondering if I could count on you to be my Padrino/Padrina of [insert item]. It would mean so much to me to have your support on my special day.”
You can ask in person, over a call, or even with a handwritten note or small gift.
Final Tip
Keep track of who accepted, what they are sponsoring, and communicate with them as your planning continues. Remember: being a padrino is an honor—let them know how much you appreciate their help!
