Cleansing and Exfoliating.

Cleansers

Everyone knows that it is critical to wash cleanse their face twice daily to have healthy skin. That’s the easy part. The hard part is knowing what kind of cleanser to choose and what they do, with all the hundreds of cleansers on the market today. So where do you begin?

There are so many cleansers today that it is hard to determine what the best type is. Because everyone’s skin is so varied, different cleansers won’t work for some and will for others. The most important thing to do is to experiment with all different kinds of cleansers to find one that will give you the best results. Here is a guide of some of the most popular cleanser types:

Cleansing Creams
Cleansing creams, when applied, create a rich and thick cream that is ideal for anyone who has dry skin. The rich formulas are sensitive on skin and give extra moisture to dehydrated skin. Cleansing creams are also good for older women because they have been known to help slow the aging process.

Milk Cleansers
Milk cleansers are ideal for people who have very oily or sensitive skin. Milk cleansers also work extremely well on young skin because of the low oil levels. If you have dry skin, stay away from milk cleansers because they will leave your skin even feeling more dry. People who do use milk cleansers are advised to use a good moisturizer and apply it right after cleansing because milk cleansers are known to dry out the skin.

Cleansing Bars
Cleansing bars are great for people who have very sensitive skin because they have such a mild formula. They are also great to use on very young children or babies.

Cleansing Lotions
These are great for people who have very oily skin because they contain no oil. They are also great for people who have normal or blemished skin. You will want to a richer cleanser if you have dry skin.

Cleansing Wipes
These are ideal for people who are always on the go or do not have access to a sink and regular cleanser. They are easy to use and can be used anywhere. They do not need water so they are perfect for women when they go on vacation. Do not use everyday though, because they are extremely drying to the skin.

Exfoliation

Skin exfoliation is an important skin procedure for anyone who wants healthy, flake free skin. Day after day of putting on makeup and washing your face, skin tends to become very dull, dry and flakey. Exfoliation is the perfect way to rejuvenate the skin and allow healthy skin to grow in.

What Is Exfoliation?

Exfoliation is a skin care process that allows the removal of dead skin to allow new, healthy skin to grow in. Everyone could use regular exfoliation, but no one will benefit more from it than people with dry skin. Because dead skin cells accumulate quickly, if you do not exfoliate then you can be left with a very dry and dull complexion. Even if you think you have completely healthy skin, everyone can benefit from exfoliation.

How to Exfoliate

You will want and make sure that you pick an exfoliating formula that is not too harsh, especially if you have sensitive skin or if it is your first time exfoliating. You will want to check the ingredients to make sure that it doesn’t have too many chemicals in it, which can irritate the skin. For exfoliation, you will want to use a very natural approach. To exfoliate, dab a little bit of the cream on your fingertips. Apply a light film all over the face, paying particular attention to dry or rough spots. Move your fingers in little, so that you can feel the beads against your skin. Don’t do it too rough, or you will irritate the skin. After a couple minute, completely rinse the skin with warm water. Make sure that there isn’t any residue left. Pat dry with a towel. Exfoliate once or twice a week, anything more can irritate the skin and cause breakouts.

Exfoliation Tips

  • Move your fingers in little circles while exfoliating, if you use big circles you may not be properly exfoliating some parts of the skin.
  • When you first start to exfoliate, only do it once a week. This will allow time for your skin to get use to it and for you to see if you will have any reactions to it.
  • Pick an exfoliating cream that is natural as possible. Especially if you have sensitive skin.
  • Remember to experiment with many different exfoliators before settling with one. Some exfoliators might work better on your skin than others.
